ArtsAltoona presents two unique ceramics class opportunities as a part of our Art Market on Saturday, April 17th 2021. The two classes will be taught by Daniel Saville of Sniklefritz Studios, a talented ceramics artist.

Each class will be one hour long and each one is limited to fifteen participants. Your registration includes instruction and one complete project. Parents, if you would like to help your child and work with them on one project, you only need to purchase one ticket; if you'd like to create your own too, you'll need to purchase a second ticket.

Ceramic Leaf Dish Class

Looking for a relaxing evening activity to put your creativity to work? Whether you are a clay expert or have never done anything with it before, this clay leaf dish class is for you! Great Introduction class to learn some of the basics of working with clay. Clay leaf dishes make great table centerpieces or great for holding pocket change and car keys.

You will be provided all the materials and tools needed to transform clay into a one of a kind dish. After you are happy with your sculpting handy work move on to adding color to your leaf with a wide selection of underglazes. Finish it off by stamping your initials into the base making it truly yours. Feel free to bring a large leaf with you from nature as we can use press it into the clay to add natural texture.

Your dish will finally be fired in our kiln then dipped in a clear coat to give it that classic finished reflection before you come back to pick it up in a couple weeks. We are sure you will have a great time at this clay leaf dish class!

Is this messy? While you might get some clay dust on you it will easily wash off when you are done, to be safe feel free to wear whatever clothes you would paint in.

Recommended Age: 10+. Younger children need to be accompanied by an adult.

Pinch Pot Monster Class

Pinch Pot Monsters are a fun way to learn the common hand-building technique with a twist. We will make a pinch pot and sculpt eyes, nose, feet, ears, etc. and create an imaginative creature using your clay, glazes, sculpting tools, and most importantly IMAGINATION. We will be able to build and glaze/paint all in one fun class. After the class, Dan will be firing them once dried and then you can come to pick them up at your convenience!

This class is suitable for all ages.
